5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for hearing voices, January 24, 2012

I have found these to be best with Skype and for listening to books on tape. They are especially good at canceling out the ambient sound while talking to someone on Skype. My computer has a built in mic so I always think that it is sufficient but I know from listening to other people that the built in mic is not very good. I'd like to put a pair of these on everyone I talk to in the course of a day. The Plantronics are comfortable to wear and I have found them to be expandable enough even for my big head. ALL of the errors caused while wearing these headphones were mine.

PICNIC= Problem in Chair, Not In Computer

FIRST I tried to plug these into my ipod and if that had worked, my husband would have made none of the following Statements in this order:

1. You are the most inept person I have ever known.
2. I can't believe you just did that.
3. You're not a systems person. You are too impatient.
4. You know how to wreck a football... Read more

These affordable corded headphones are OK, but not to fall in love with.

If you Skype from your laptop or desktop computer, and listen to music between calls, OK.

If you wear headphones a lot, you'll want better comfort and sound.

For "on-the-go," you could want something more compact.

USB connection -- not for phones.

PROs:

- Affordable
- Plug and play
- Handy control stick - Mute, volume, and call answer/terminate
- Noise canceling mic (earphones are not noise canceling)

OKs:

- Music fidelity is OK, not great
- Comfort is OK, not great. Not for wearing hours on end
- Open-air foam earpieces allow you to hear your surroundings (good or bad)
- Secure enough fit, just barely
- Fold-able, but not super compact
- 1 year warranty

- - - Alternatives - - -

I have not tried them, but I would consider:

4.0 out of 5 stars Plantronics Stereo USB Headset, January 26, 2012

I'm actually somewhat disappointed that this headset connects to devices via USB. Personally, I would have preferred something that I can plug into my cell phone or home phone. Overall the headset is quite functional. I can't say it's the most comfortable, but for quick conversations, that won't last for hours, it's comfortable enough. The best feature is the Inline control panel, which, again, would have been great to use with other devices that do not have a USB. Sound quality was fine, it isn't bluetooth so there isn't that much you're risking as it is directly connected to your PC or Mac. Price wise it is a little more than I'd want to pay, but overall you're getting a pretty good headset.
