I've been through the Jawbone, Gennum, LG, Motorola and Sound ID headsets. The Voyager 835 got great reviews on CNET.com and I did my homework with the technology, but I would rate this headset as average. The clarity of incoming voices is above average, but soft. My voice is muffled on the receivers' end. There is minor static that I first noticed during the silence of being put on hold; but now I am aware of it all the time. Volume definitely needs to be louder. Conversation is fine in quiet indoor environments, but I bought this noise-cancelling, wind-stopping headset for practical reasons. The noise-cancelling and wind-stopping technology is good for the person I'm talking to; however, I keep having to ask them to repeat themselves because I cannot hear them in windy or environments with a lot of background noise. The usable range that the phone can be away... I thought I'd wrecked my Plantronics Voyager 835 bluetooth headset when I left it in a front pocket in a shirt I washed and dried in the dryer. But when I opened the dryer to check on my clothes, the bluetooth was sitting there, flashing red and blue in pair-up mode, quite hot to the touch but still alive. And, believe it or not, it worked!! Initially, the ear speaker sounded tinny, but in a day, it had reverted to its old self. Now it sounds just like it did before its laundry adventure. Unbelievable! So I must give this device high marks for durability. And it provides good clarity and noise reduction for the price. 4 of 5 people found the following review helpful: Not up to par expectations, By Ben Franklin (Franklin Mint) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Plantronics Voyager 835 Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory) Edit: The price has come down significantly, I originally paid $65 for this headset. at $20, I'd say it's a good value. Here is my original 3 star review: So after doing a little research into the different headsets and trying to find an affordable but high quality headset, I chose the Plantronics 835. Wrong choice. It boasts wind cancelling feature and noise cancelling quality, neither of which I experienced. In light winds I was still able to hear moderately clear, but the other party reported not being able to hear me half the time. In heavy winds I could hardly hear the other party, and they couldn't hear me at all. Most the time they thought I lost connection until I switched back to my phone. The noise cancelling was actually quite the opposite of what is advertised. I bought this headset because I live with 4 roomates on different schedules, so there is always considerable noise. When I use the headset in my room the other party can hear me... Read more |
