I looked at all the iPhone stands on Amazon and it appeared to be a choice between something inexpensive (and in many cases cheap) but flimsy or something made of solid metal that was a bit pricey. Then I stumbled across this thing. From the reviews and product description I got the hope it was well made and the price was certainly reasonable so I took a gamble. This is one of the few times (for me) where a gamble paid off.
I've provided details in the accompanying video to help describe what you're getting.
UPDATE: I used this stand on a cross country flight. It kept my iPhone supported and steady on the tray table the whole time so I could watch videos in relative comfort. Not the same comfort as the growing number of people who have iPads mind you, but comfortable none the less :) .
Also, in revisiting this review and scanning some of the others there is something which I feel should be pointed out. This stand is advertised as being for the "iPhone, iPod, & More". It appears that for the "& Mores" of the world, well, your mileage may very. Check the other reviews and see if anyone had problems with your non-Apple device and this stand.
BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews, accompanied by detailed videos, can take the place of first-hand experiences that are often lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've received from other reviewers and try to return the favor as best as I can. I hope you found this review helpful and the video at least entertaining. If there was anything you thought was lacking or unclear leave a comment and I'll do what I can to fix it.

I bought this folding stand to use when traveling for work. I figured I would just use it to prop up my phone for watching movies, and to hold my phone up so I could view the display from bed (while using my phone as my alarm clock).
I was a little concerned about the plastic construction, but I didn't want to risk buying a metal stand and having it confiscated by airport security. This stand's construction has exceeded my expectations. The plastic has a nice, solid feel, with enough 'give' that makes me think that it could probably handle some abuse while in a pocket during transport. The spring is taught, and not flimsy, and holds onto my phone well.
Outside of traveling, I've actually used this stand quite a bit while baking for the holidays too. It holds the phone both upright and on its side.
I highly recommend this stand.

Perfect for watching movies, videos on my Ipod Touch!By A. Hernandez
I needed a compact stand so I wouldn't have to hold my Ipod when watching movies, and this is perfect. It's very compact, very sturdy and it just works. It will work for pretty much any cell phone too. I tried it on my Evo and that's a pretty big phone, and it worked great. I have a rubber case on my Ipod and it still works perfectly. You can use it in landscape or portrait mode which is also a huge plus....but the most important to me is how compact it is. I tuck it away in my case, and if I'm ever somewhere where I wanna watch a movie or do hands-free facetime, it's there taking up barely any space. I love it, and I would recommend this to anyone.
