4.0 out of 5 stars Great Headphones but Outrageously Expensive, June 4, 2011

Design:
The 360 comes with a metal reinforced extendible headband and looks quite sturdy. The soft, leather padded ear cups are foldable to a full 90 degrees and fit snugly inside the carrying case. The PXC 360 BT weighs about 180 grams and is a little heavier than it looks. However, they are comfortable to wear, even for long durations. The battery is located on the left ear cup and is removable/replaceable. The right ear cup holds all the controls as well as the the audio jack. The buttons for toggling Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) and Bluetooth are located at the bottom of the right ear cup while that for SRS-WOW HD is located under the "reduce volume" button. The controls are intuitive but take a while to get used to. The button at the center controls Play/Pause as well as the master control to turn the headphones on and off. The ANC button controls TalkThrough and ANC. There's also a Braille symbol for `L' embossed on top of the left ear cup.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
As a former professional audio engineer who has used many Sennheiser professional products, I was anxious to try one of their high-end consumer products. Please be patient as I want to provide a detailed review which hopefully will be useful to potential buyers of this expensive product.

This headset appears to have it all: around the ear acoustic seal, wired or bluetooth operation, active noise reduction, rechargeable battery and stereo enhancement. They're delivered with a zipper case, a couple of audio adapters, an AC adapter, a USB cable, and all manner of international power plugs.

The headphones seem to be generally well-made and I expect them to last for some while. The ear cups are usually the component that wears out the fastest but I haven't had these long enough to judge that aspect.

The audio cable which connects the headset to the source in wired mode seems very flimsy and fragile and I don't think it will last; and as it's a micro stereo... Read more

The Good:
- Sounds amazing. And I mean amazing. Audiophiles will be pleased.
- Somewhat spatial.
- Very lightweight and comfortable
- It's natural sound isolation alone is usually enough.
- The noise canceling absolutely cuts out the world
- The talk through feature is very handy
- Work great as wired headphones
- Universal power jacks included.
- Works with both my droid and my laptop.

The Bad:
- Haven't found a time that I want the SRS WOW.
- I would have preferred a hard, contoured travel case like the Bose generally come with. It comes with a bag that offers little protection and no way to separate all the plugs and cables from the headphones.
- Bluetooth is a bit finicky when first connecting and sometimes pop/clicks as and audio stream starts/stops.
- The price. The $589 MSRP is ridiculous. For that price I would expect a better case and a more spatial sound.

Basically, there is no other... Read more
