4.0 out of 5 stars Solved My lost signal problem for cell phone and PC broadband card, July 20, 2009

This review is from: Wilson SIGNALBOOST Mobile and Home/Office Cellular/PCS Amplifier (811210) and 12" Magnet-Mount Antenna (301103) (Electronics)
I travel and camp in a small trailer for long periods (weeks to months). Since campgrounds tend to be in isolated places with few cell/broadband towers, I have often had to drive to a town where the signals are stronger to use my cell phone and/or PC broadband card. I purchased this set [Wilson SignalBoost amplifier (811210) and 12" antenna (301103)] and installed them in my A-frame trailer. The difference in reception is impressive.

One of my favorite places to camp is in the mountains west of Boulder, Colorado. When I tried to use my cell phone (with Verizon service), it showed a bar and one half to two bars outside the trailer, if I held the phone facing east toward Boulder. Calls would connect for several seconds and then disconnect. My PC card (again, with Verizon service) would never even connect. After installation, both the phone and card work perfectly inside my trailer. I have not lost a call and my broadband speed is equal to the speed I have at home... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Peace of Mind, November 5, 2009

I can not speak too highly of this product. It enables us to remain in our home in a remote area of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We depend on the Wilson signal booster as it raises our signal strength from 0 to 3 bars. Not only does it keep us in touch with family and friends, it has literally been a life saver for my husband, an asthmatic, and accident prone sportsmen who have come to our door after finding themselves without phone service in an emergency situation. Knowing that help is only a phone call away is priceless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect solution for long-time problem, June 7, 2010

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Product does exactly what it claims to do.

I live in an area where cellular reception is extremely poor. Most of the time one bar, sometimes no signal at all.
Now I get between 3-5 bars consistently, with no dropped calls, and the people that I speak with indicate they can hear the difference.
I use the 12" mag mount antenna in the house. The antenna must be mounted on a metal base of a foot or so square. I used the cover from an old desktop computer. Works like a charm. Also, if you are going to use it in the house, as I do, then you need to buy the AC adapter, which is not included. This model is primarily intended for mobile use, so it does include a car adapter, however.

I was able to eliminate a land line by purchasing this device, so I'm thrilled.

One thing you should know - this device is designed to be used with only one phone. Your phone must be tethered to the amplifier, and you must... Read more
