I've been suffering from dropped or poor-quality phone calls, and unreliable data coverage in my home. WiFi helped the data connection at the expense of my battery life, but, of course, did nothing for the phone calls. WiFi also caused some weird app issues as I moved around in and out of zones of coverage around my home (for some reason, my Droid's WiFi connection requires an exceptionally strong signal to work well). I connected this network extender to my home network and it found the proper network connections, found the GPS signal, and went online, all on its own with no tweaking anywhere, which is rare indeed these days for so-called "plug-n-play" network devices. Got this up and going in less then 20m. Works in the entire house! Our dsl speed is 1.25 and the 3g that this puts out connected to our router is abou 0.70 not bad. If your thinking about getting this just get it! its the newest model and at a great price. Our speeds are 2MB download, and 1 MB upload, fast enough according to the Extender Manual. They are not. We could hear others talk to us, but our words to others were garbled. FAQ's on Verizon's website state that the Extender only works with wired - cable or fiber optic - broadband cable. That information is not included with the on line product description. |
