5Full bars inside

By K. Mcgrath

This product was easy to install and without a doubt solved the problem on no reception with AT&T inside my place of business. Now I have full bars.

5From one bar to six

By Josh

I spent a few weeks checking into cellular amplifiers with a goal of bringing a better signal into the basement so that I could still take full advantage of the data speeds afforded by my 3G HTC Hero when tethered to my PC while I'm down there.

I ended up going with this particular model since the band frequencies matched my carrier (Alltel) and because it was a more powerful version of the cheaper desktop models.

I was pleased to discover that the kit did indeed have everything I needed to actually set it up, including two low loss coax cables, mounting brackets and screws. (the indoor cable is 20ft, the outdoor (thick cable) is 30ft. The amp goes in the middle, antennas on the ends.

The nearest Cell tower is about three to four miles away, thankfully it's direct line of sight except for a single tree which is higher than the roof.

I fixed the omnidirectional cable at the highest point of the roof, and then the indoor antenna in the room that I wanted the signal. I placed it about seven feet off the floor. With every cell phone powered off, I powered on the amp, the LEDs indicated the signal was good, and that I had placed the outdoor and indoor antennas far enough apart. Then I powered on my cell, and to my joy found a full six bars of service. Before it had been either zero or one bars. Data-wise, before the amp I was often kicked down to 1x which pulled less than 100kbps down (ugh!), but now with this amp I get EVDO RevA continuously which when tested shows that it is pulling almost 1.5mbps down and 256kbps up.

I had thought maybe I would need a Yagi directional antenna for a really strong signal, but decided not to order one until I could see how well the included outdoor Omnidirectional antenna performed. Thankfully, the Omni outdid my expectations.

The signal in the room with the indoor antenna is mega powerful, but is marginally less effective in other rooms of the basement. Upstairs it seems to give me just one extra bar, which is okay since I was already at 2-3 bars there.

All said and done, this amp does exactly what I wanted it to. I'm really happy with it, five stars.

5Wilson Electronics

By Tim L Couch

I have a cabin in the mountains with very little cell phone signal. Usually one bar. I was dropping calls all the time. My computer air card lost reception constantly.

I purchased the wilson SOHO system for smaller homes, my cabin is about 1300 sq ft.

I did all the installation myself, hardest thing was concealing the wire inside the house. I was able to run the wire inside a closet which made a professional looking job. I installed the repeater in the basement. Plugged it up and instantly had three to five bars of signal. I havent dropped a call or lost connection with my air card since installing the system. I personally think the Wilson product is worth every penny I paid for it. Its very simple to install and would recommend it to anyone who has trouble dropping signal.
