5Excellent sound flawlessly ONLY for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad and newer products.

By C. Law

I see a lot of confusions in Apple's iPhone model that utilizes all features with this headphone. Let me clarify this to everybody.

This headphone ROCKS! From sound quality to tangle-free cord, in-line mic, answer/call, volume up/down button. It just works flawlessly. No question ask if you are NOT an audiophile, this headphone will let you throw your apple iphone stock headphone like trash!

Read Carefully for the Compatibility List:

- It supports iPhone, iPods, iPads for ALL features ONLY for the follow models:

a. iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, and future if they maintain the same 3.5mm 3pin jack.

b. iPod and iPod Touches, iPad that are released after 2009 when 3GS came out.

c. For other Apple products, the audio part definitely works. Mic and Track Change buttons are only for iPhone 3G in 2008 or later. Anything before are not supported.

- It works for Android Phones but NOT the volume control.

- Windows Phone 7 series for AUDIO, activating voice control and Track change ONLY. Volume control and microphone are not supported.

- Works on Blackberry phone not volume control

**The product description clearly states the following:

The remote and mic are supported only by iPod nano (4th and 5th generation), iPod classic (120GB, 160GB only), iPod touch (2nd and 3rd generation), iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, and iPad. The remote is supported by iPod shuffle (3rd generation). Audio is supported by all iPod models. Requires latest iPod software.

3The good and the not-so-good for me w/ these.

By J. Lee

I've owned a lot of different types of apple ear buds over time. I attempted using these with my iPhone 3G and a fairly old nanopod. Here's the ups and downs I found with them to help you make your choice:

- Very good sound quality! The sound quality was definitely as good as more expensive stereo ones I've used, with really good external noise blocking and just the right amount of everything else.

- Good and comfortable fit! Another reviewer comments on the fit - but three different size earpieces are included, so you can get the fit that works best for you. I like this type of bud better than the more pointy version that many say they think provides better sound, because they're more comfortable for my ears. I don't notice a sound quality difference between the shapes. These stay in no matter what I'm doing.

- Silicone/rubber versus foam.

Some people have a preference for foam earbuds - either because they feel it gives them better listening or they just like the way they feel. I actually prefer the silicone since they seem to better fit my ears and block outside sounds. But, to each its own - you probably know which camp you fall into.

- No more tangled wires! Again, another reviewer thought these nylon type tangle-free wires made noise that interrupted his experience. I didn't have that problem, and having spent far too much of my life untangling earset wires - I just love this feature.

- The microphone remote control features don't work well on mine. This was the big problem and the reason I didn't rate these higher. (EDIT/NOTE: This I have recently discovered is an issue w/ using an older phone. If you have a 3GS or higher, or a newer ipod I've been told you should not have this problem)

The mic is supposed to act as a remote control for your phone and iPod. Mine works just fine w/ a simple click for answering or rejecting an incoming call, and the sound quality is good for a phone conversation.

However, on my 3G iPhone and old nanopaod (see previous note) it is TOTALLY frustrating trying to get the mic to do what it is supposed to do. A one page manual provides instructions on how to pause/restart, fast forward/fast back, flip forward/back to songs and adjust volume by "clicking" the mic. (e.g. "click center of mic twice quickly to skip to the next song, click 3x quickly to move back a song") These would be handy features - if they worked consistently.

On my iPhone the only one I could get to work reliably (and even that is occassionally touch and go) was starting and stopping a song. While, I can generally get it to flip forward on the playlist or go back to the beginning of a song, it's a crapshoot (even if I press it exactly the same as a time when it just worked). It generally takes several attempts to press it in just the right way or right place for a command to take. The volume controls don't work at all - my phone just doesn't recognize the commands from the clicking the volume buttons on the mic. On the nanopod, the mic has no working remote control features no matter what I did.

Bottom Line: If you're in the camp that likes nylon tangle-free wires and silicone earbuds - these offer good stereo sound quality, fine external noise reduction and a comfortable fit. But, at least for those that are still lagging in upgrading their iPhones or iPods the mic didn't deliver as promised.

5So far, excellent headset!

By Jeremy Treis

I got these two days ago and I love them so far. The sound quality is excellent (though I am not an audiophile) and the volume goes up pretty loud. I'd definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a good, quality set of headphones.

Also, it works perfectly with my iPhone 3GS. It works exactly the same way as the headphones that come with the iPhone. Though I'd say the Plantronics control buttons have a much nicer, more polished feel to them.
