5Fits my phone perfectly and is very stable.

By S. Adie

The product is very well made, it fits my phone perfectly. I am able to use my phone as a dash cam as I drive now and that is what I mostly wanted with a mount. The mount does indeed stick to anything. I didn't even have to clamp it down for it to stick to my windshield. Once I did the mount was very stable. I am very impressed.

4Great grip, cheap plastic

By Cory Lykins

I bought this to replace my phone specific mount after I upgraded phones. The "suction cup" is mildly sticky and if pressed against a surface normally provides a superior grip. The base then has a lever to push down to pull the rubber up and create a tighter vacuum underneath. I have tried it on a roughly painted wall, smooth metal filing cabinet, smooth plastic and my "rough" dashboard. The grip is tremendous. This portion of the product is far superior to any other "grip" on the market.

This would get a definite 5 stars, but the plastic is "cheap". It doesnt appear it would easily break, but it also doesnt seem sturdy either. The clamp portion pivots on a typical ball and socket joint as seen on other similar items. I am disappointed with the arm and the joint however. They seem not sturdy enough to absorb small road vibration or, worse, larger ones. The device stays perfect in the clamp and the base stays stuck, but there is considerable road vibration translated to the phone itself. If you are using this for a dash-cam mount (like I do sometimes) the vibration is very noticeable. Using the phone as in GPS or other modes its not so bad as you arent intently focused on the phone's screen.

I would love to see version two of this system with a much better vibration dampening system built into it and it would be perfect.

4incredible suction

By Eric Rose

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R30YVCFSDD3Y1N The silicon material creates incredible suction. This will work on a variety of surfaces. But here's an important point to consider, especially after you read the negative reviews. You should absolutely rinse off the silicon in clean water (just pour water on it from a water bottle) after every time you remove it. When you get it, you will spend 10 minutes mounting it to every surface you can. After you are done playing with it, rinse it off then use it in your car. It will stick to a curved, textured dashboard, as long as the silicon is clean.

I had it falling off the dash at first, then poured some water on it and it's been sticking for a week.

I use it with my iphone.

I have a video I took with the iphone, mounted on the dash, of me driving down a pretty snow-covered road in October. Very pretty. You'll see in the video, on a bumpy road, the mount vibrates enough to ruin the video. This is a worst case but I wanted to show that this mount will NOT make your iPhone into a GoPro camera. It's good for using the iPhone as a GPS, but not a camera mount. Note that this is mounted to a curved, dusty, textured dashboard (on a Subaru Legacy). The mount did NOT fall off after a 2 hour ride through Vermont. And it's been on for about 4 days before that, and 2 since, and still is attached. If your mount falls off, you didn't rinse it off, simple as that.

The plastic is slightly cheaper than the plastic of the Garmin mount, I will admit. You'll see in the video that it's a little shaky on bumpy roads, so it's no replacement for a GoPro style camera. But it can do in a pinch if you want to film yourself driving down the road, ala "Cops" or something.

But if you just want to hold a phone in your car, to use as a GPS or speakerphone, it works great and it will cling to just about any surface, provided you rinse it off between mountings. With this mount, and "GPS Drive" app (by MotionX) on the iPhone, I have a proper replacement for my aging Garmin.
