Universal Defender is the way to go for AT&T users!By Bianca
I originally bought a black OtterBox Defender (AT&T version) for my iPhone4. I returned that one because I had wanted red, and so I got this one figuring it would work just as well because it was universal. I was so happy! It fit so much more snugly than the case created specifically for the AT&T iPhone4.
If you are an AT&T iPhone4 user and you are unsure of which case to get I HIGHLY recommend this Universal defender. It's definitely sturdy and you won't even have to think twice about whether your phone is safe or not. Plus, this Universal defender seemed to fit the AT&T iPhone much better than the "regular" (non-Universal) OtterBox Defender for AT&T.

I just recently purchased the red otterbox defender case awhile back off of Amazon. I was a bit skeptical about purchasing the "universal" case, worrying that it wouldn't fit as snug as it should...........well I was WRONG. The otterbox is fairly easy to install, and almost seems second nature after doing it once. Upon purchasing my iPhone 4, I bought a case through Verizon to protect my phone. Although the case was somewhat functional, most iPhone 4 cases DO NOT protect the touch screen from an impact. The only sort of "protection" these cases provide is a transparent, thin sheet of plastic you have to apply yourself over the iPhone's touch screen. I use the word "protection" very loosely here because the main function of the screen protector is to prevent scratches, not to really protect against any type of impact that potentially could be sustained to the phone. Although I had a "case" on my iPhone, I always handled my phone with EXTREME caution and care, and never wanted to be in a situation where I had to trust my case to provide protection. This all changed once I bought the otterbox defender case for my phone though! As mentioned earlier, the case is fairly simple to install, and seems effortless based upon the level of protection your phone will now receive. The inner portion of the otterbox has a nice felt like covering to prevent potential starching to the phone, while the mid layer of the case has a very hard/durable plastic layer. Last but not least, the very outermost layer (the red silicone like material) provides a very stylish and a very sufficient shock absorbency capability. The transparent screen protector (just what the name implies.....a protector), is pre-formed into the mid layer of the otterbox (this is not a peel and stick type of 'scratch resistant' layer). No area of the phone is UNPROTECTED! There are a couple of misconceptions that other reviews have stated, and I would like to clear them up based on my personal experience after purchasing my own otterbox defender case. FIRST, the red shade of color in the picture IS NOT exactly the same as the color of the actual box you will receive in the package. It is NOT pink, but more of a reddish/orange color. Even though there is somewhat of a slight difference in the actual color, it is still very aesthetically pleasing to both genders, and does not look 'girly' or 'wuss like'. Personally I like the variation in color, it somewhat distinguishes one's iPhone from everyone else's bland iPhone cases. SECOND, I have a thin peel and apply scratch protector on my touch screen, along with the installed otterbox over my phone..........all the functions WORK PERFECT (along with a little extra protection). All the icons select as they should, and the screen's quality seems unaffected. THIRD, I have read that the otterbox prevents some chargers from being plugged in with the case still installed. I have used only apple made chargers (both home and car) and have had whatsoever no issues with it. The chargers have plugged in and charged perfectly while the otterbox has been installed the whole time. The last main issue I would like to address, is the issue of "Bulk" that the otterbox gives the phone. Personally, the box doesn't add enough bulk to bother me.......it fits in my pocket easily, doesn't seem uncomfortable to hold, and is still VERY SMALL (even with the case) compared to other smart phones with a protective case comparable to the performance of the otterbox defender case. For example, the Samsung Infuse 4 g is HUGE when it has a case on it!! The iPhone 4 almost looks small compared to it!!. In summary, I like the rugged and protected stance that the otterbox gives the iPhone 4. On the outside, the iPhone looks tough and ready to handle any environment placed within, but inside the case is the superior technology and functional ability that apple has grown to be known for. The otterbox defender case gave me the comfort and protection I was looking for, along with keeping all the phone's unique features in 100% working order. The video and pictures still come out great, and the touch screen still works flawlessly. Although I still use my old case (whenever I have a professional function/formal), the otterbox defender remains on my phone 95% of the time. The best insurance one can buy for their iPhone 4 for the money!

Protection for my new 4SBy Nuggle
I ordered this case after hours of searching for the "perfect" case. I wanted one with birds on it, and pretty decorations. But, after shattering the screen of my 3GS, I decided to skip the frills, and get a case that could offer my new 4S better protection.
I was concerned that it wouldn't fit the 4S, but after reading a few reviews, I realized it would probably work. It does! It fits well, and gives my 4S great protection. I was worried that this case might be a bit bulky, but it really isn't as bad as some of the older otterbox models as far as bulk is concerned. The only small fit issue I have, is with the mute switch. It is slightly difficult to get to through the case (slightly lower than the hole cut for it), but only SLIGHTLY. It's not so bad that I am annoyed or have to struggle, I just noticed it's a little off.
I do like that you can take it in and out of the holster, and clip it onto your jeans if you need to. It is difficult to talk on the phone, however, while it's still in it's holster. I figure the holster is great when you are pretty active and need to keep the phone on you, but don't want it falling out of your pocket.
I also wanted to mention that a few of the other cases mess up the camera, and cause weird glares in photos. This case does not do that. I have had absolutely zero problems with the camera or any other function impairment with this case.
I had to give 4 stars instead of 5, however, because I feel like Otterbox could really make these cases more attractive. I realize it's just a case, but I would enjoy some neat designs, and variety of choices in the future. I just find it to be a bit boring looking.
